Southwestern Turkey Burgers

The hubby and I made a trip to Sam's a week or so ago & bought a GIANT bag of fries, like seriously huge! When we were sitting down to write our meal plan for the week, we looked through the kitchen to see what we already had.  We decided that we better figure out some meals that pair well with fries and our minds went straight to hamburgers.  We agreed that hamburgers and fries is kind of a boring meal, so we decided to make our own turkey burgers with a kick instead!

  • 1 lbs of Ground Turkey
  • 2 Tablespoons of Cilantro
  • 1/2 Tablespoon of ground cumin
  • 1 Tablespoon of Chives
  • 1 Tablespoon of Thyme
  • Dash of Garlic Salt
  • Dash of Ground Pepper
  • Dash of Cayenne Pepper
  • Buns
  • Sliced Cheese
  • Toppings & Condiments: Avocado, Tomato, Mayonnaise, etc

  • Warm up your grill.  We use a George Foreman with a high setting.
  • Mix the ground turkey with all of the seasonings.

  • Make four patties then put them on your grill.
  • If you have a Foreman grill, then heat for 6 minutes. If you are using a stove top grill then heat for 6 minutes on each side on Medium High heat.

  • Next add your slice of cheese (we used provolone, but pick your favorite!) then let it cook for another minute.

We don't know where the drip pan went!
  • Next, it's time to assemble your burger!  Put the patty on the bun and add your condiments and dressings.
  • Enjoy:

We made a homemade Red Robin seasoning for our fries using 3 tablespoons of salt, 1 tablespoon of instant tomato soup mix, 2 teaspoons of chili powder, 1/4 teaspoon of ground cumin and a 1/4 teaspoon of ground black pepper all mixed together.  This made for a delicious meal!
