Pink Moscato Cupcakes

I was drinking wine while pinning one night when I found this post about Moscato Cupcakes.  This amazing recipe came from Brooke Bakes! and I only made minor changes to it. This is my wine:

Since I was drinking pink Moscato at the time, I decided to try making the cupcakes with my pink wine.  This turned out to be a great idea.  You can scroll to the bottom for a link to a printable recipe.

Cupcake Ingredients:
  • 2 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 and 1/4 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup canola oil
  • 1/3 cup Pink Moscato wine
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp. white vinegar
  • Optional: A few drops of blue and red food coloring

Frosting Ingredients & Materials:
  • 8 oz. (1 cup) butter, room temperature
  • 3 Tbsp. Pink Moscato
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • Optional: A few drops of blue and red food coloring
  • Ziploc bag
  • Sprinkles

Cupcake Directions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
  • Prepare the cupcake pan by either spraying with cooking spray or lining each compartment
  • Mix the flour, baking soda, salt and sugar in a blow
  • In a separate bowl mix the oil, wine, milk and vinegar
  • Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients slowly, while stirring
  • Add a few drops of blue and red food coloring (4 blue, 8 red)
  • Fill each cupcake compartment roughly 3/4 full
  • Bake for 15-17 minutes then let cool.  I usually stick mine in the freezer
Frosting Directions:
  • Cream the butter
  • Add the wine and vanilla extract then mix well
  • Add the powdered sugar to the mix 1/2 cup at a time and mix well
  • Add a few drops of blue and red food coloring (4 blue, 8 red)
  • Put the frosting in a ziploc bag, close the bag then cut a tip of it, then lick the bowl so it looks like this:

  • Start on the outside of the cupcake and move in towards the middle in a circular way.  This will create a sort of rose

  • Add sprinkles then enjoy!
